Overview
For a unique and memorable family getaway, visit Stonehenge and experience glamping at the Stonehenge Inn. This 19th Century inn is the closest one to the ancient monument and offers stays for a family of four in their traditional hand-built Shepherd Huts, sleeping two adults and two children.
These huts are perfect for a short getaway with standard iron wheels, a firepit, and beautiful murals painted on the ceilings. The huts now boast electricity and running water while maintaining that feeling of living in the past.
The Stonehenge Inn is located only 7 minutes from the prehistoric Stonehenge monument on Salisbury Plain. Visit and learn the history of the large stones, which are around 13 feet tall and 7 feet wide. If you can’t get enough, there is even a mini Stonehenge right on the property!
Other area attractions include Salisbury Cathedral, which is home to one of only 4 surviving copies of the 1215 Magna Carta. There’s also Old Sarum, the massive hill fort from the Iron Ages. From here, you can see the ruins of an old castle and a royal palace.
When you’re done exploring the Salisbury area for the day, you can return to your accommodation and relax for the evening by the courtyard fireplace. Or enjoy the evening entertainment in the pub.
