Overview

Sitting beautifully surrounded by the still waters of its moat, Leeds Castle is one of the most attractive venues in Kent surrounded by 500 acres of stunning parkland and formal gardens. The Castle has always been a palace to entertain and impress, with every generation leaving its mark.

Now you’ll be able to view the castle from a different perspective as you explore the grounds on a Segway.

Your experience will start with an introduction, which is then followed by one to one training. Once all members are confident you will then depart on the 60 minute tour. Your guide will point out the main sights including the gardens, grounds and the Maiden's Tower.

The majority of the tour takes place in the grounds outside of the main castle gardens and includes views of the castle, one of which is particularly stunning, as you stand at the top of a hill looking down onto the front of the castle set in amongst the trees with the Pilgrim Way as its backdrop.

A Castle entry ticket is not required to take the Segway Tour. You will only require a ticket if you wish to visit the Castle and Grounds separately.

What did you get up to?
We arrived at the Leeds Castle venue and made our way to the Segway Tours meeting point, which was sign posted well and therefore easy to find. Upon arrival, we were welcome by Matt and Tia who were great tour guides from start to finish. I couldn’t wait to get started as soon as I saw the Segways but before I could do that – safety first! We were given some safety helmets followed by a safety briefing and instructions on how to operate the Segways.
Once we got that out of the way, it was time to hop on and commence the tour. They don’t call Kent “the Garden of England” for no reason because the scenery around Leeds Castle was absolutely amazing, with a lot picturesque sites all over place! The guides would stop us at specific points of the tour to educate us about the castle and the history of the place, which was all really interesting to learn about and also capture some memorable photos of us enjoying the experience. We were also fortunate enough to go on a dry British summer day so this in my opinion made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall we really enjoyed the experience – probably more than I expected which was good because this then turned out to be a worthwhile experience. We didn’t want the experience to end and we walked away saying that we have to do this again and would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to do something new or different.

What did you enjoy the most?
Being on a Segway and discovering how to balance and how to manoeuvre the vehicle.
