Overview

Make your chocolate-fuelled dreams a reality with a chance to discover the art of chocolate décor from experienced and knowledgeable cocoa connoisseurs. Brought to you by London’s pioneers of chocolate-making workshops, MyChocolate uses only high quality chocolate throughout their teachings to ensure your masterpieces look as good as they taste.

Your session will kick off with quick lesson as the Master Chocolatiers guide you through the making of chocolate, from bean to bar. You’ll also get to sample plenty of tasters such as raw cocoa nibs, 100% pure chocolate and special secret ingredients, as you discover the differentiating flavours and textures of chocolate throughout time.

During the rest of your session, you will create your very own personal design in the form of a chocolate shapes, using professional dipping forks to create marbled effects. Next on the agenda is fresh truffle making, which really is as delicious as it sounds. Following demonstrations from the Master Chocolatiers, you’ll be dipping, cutting, rolling and decorating your way to superb creations using dark chocolate ganache, milk chocolate fudge, and bowls of melted chocolate. You’ll then adorn your crafts with white chocolate flakes, honeycomb and edible flowers to complete the final touches. Your day of sweet dreams won’t end there.

You’ll leave with approximately 15 of your own handmade chocolates in addition to your giant chocolate button to show friends and family (or at least photograph them for evidence and then eat them yourself).

My Chocolate, Piccadilly, Manchester

What did your experience entail?
Booking the experience was simple and I received an email promptly with all the details and had a reminder the day before. It was for a 2-hour session in chocolate making. It was a lovely experience, with the chef being engaging and warm from the moment I arrived and explained everything with energy and clarity that made the experience fun and inclusive.
I got to share my experience with others, and we all enjoyed being creative with the chocolate and being able to take it home was a bonus, as we were provided with bags or boxes to keep them safe until I got them home, or even before hand (as they did taste great), overall excellent value for money. Only room for improvement would be the setting, was ok being in a sort of conference area but in a more kitchen type environment would have felt nicer overall.
I got the train to the experience, and it was extremely easy to find with the details in the email booking I received confirming all required details. It was less than a couple minutes’ walk out of Manchester Piccadilly station and if you wanted to stay over there was plenty of hotels within a short walk from where the experience took place, including the experience being in a lovely hotel.

What did you enjoy the most?
It was great fun to be able to be hands on and get messy with tasty chocolate, and then take home what I had created.

Top Tip

1. Travel light and not in white, as it can get messy, and you get a fair amount of chocolate you can bring home.
