Looking for a unique activity for your next family outing? Bring the family together, lace up your walking shoes, and embark on an unforgettable adventure with our family treasure hunt. Whether you're interested in exploring your own neighbourhood from a fresh perspective or discovering a new city, our treasure hunt packs promise hours of fun!
How it works:
Once you’ve purchased your activity voucher, a PDF pack with your scavenger hunt clues will be sent to you. You can choose from two different sets of clues:
1. The easy clues are perfect for all ages. These hints are straightforward and ask for something that can be easily observed during your treasure hunt, like gathering information from a plaque along the way.
2. The cryptic clues offer a greater challenge and are perfect for older participants. These clues might ask for something harder to spot, require some general knowledge, or read more like a riddle rather than a direct question.
In addition to the two sets of clues, you will receive three bonus rounds. These bonus rounds can be completed alongside the main hints and will add an extra element of fun to your adventure.
1. Picture Round: This round will challenge you to take pictures of specific places and objects you encounter along the treasure hunt route.
2. Items to Collect: As you progress on your scavenger hunt, keep an eye out for everyday objects listed in this bonus round.
3. Pub Names: If you're exploring a location with numerous pubs and bars, this bonus round is perfect for you. These cryptic clues will lead you to discover the names of various pubs and bars along the way.
Once you’ve received your treasure hunt pack, choose which clues you want to follow and print them off for everyone participating.
The scavenger hunt can be completed in a number of locations throughout England, including several treasure trails in London. Please keep in mind that this activity isn’t organised. You’ll receive your pack of treasure hunt clues by email and complete the experience on the day of your choice.
Treasure hunts in London and other cities can be completed on foot, while rural ones require driving. It's worth noting that most rural hunts, as well as the majority of city-based ones, are designed to be non-circular. This means that they will have a distinct starting and ending point.
You can choose the date and time you wish to do the treasure hunt, throughout the year.
The treasure hunt will take approximately 2 to 3 hours.
There is no maximum group size for this experience, although larger parties may want to split into smaller groups.
This experience is not suitable for spectators, but an unlimited number of people can take part.
There is no minimum age for this experience, however it is recommended for 8 years and older.
You need to have the ability to walk for 3 hours.
You do not need any qualifications to take part in this experience, although you will need to be able to drive for rural treasure hunts.
This is for a voucher entitling the holder to any of the activities supplied by Activity Superstore up to the value stated.
On the basket page, you can select from the following delivery options:

What did the experience entail?
We thoroughly enjoyed a family day out to Lancaster where we were all able to take part in a fun-filled treasure hunt. The treasure hunt wasn't too tricky, nor was it too easy, which meant that everybody in the family could get involved - regardless of age. It was such a wonderful way to explore the city of Lancaster, which is something that we had never done before. It even came with some extra 'bonus' rounds, which provided the adults a bit of an extra challenge as we meandered through the city, and it created some fun competition between us both! Overall, it was an immensely fun day.
What did you enjoy the most?
We enjoyed exploring a new city whilst taking part in the treasure hunt - it felt like a fun game.
1. Make sure that everybody in the family is involved and willing to try - it's much more fun that way.
2. Keep your eyes peeled ALL the time!! The clues are up high and low.
